Client-Focused, Fee Based
MONTAG operates under the fiduciary standard, which means that we are organized to put our clients’ interests ahead of our own. Our fees are simple, calculated as a percentage of assets under management. All fees are tabulated on an invoice and shared with our clients each quarter. We are paid directly by our clients for the services and continual counseling we provide, rather than charging transaction-driven commissions or product fees.
One of the main differences in working with MONTAG is that you speak with and have direct access to the people who are managing your portfolio. There are no prepackaged products; every strategy is designed specifically to reflect your investment objectives that were designed to help meet your unique goals. And when your goals or life circumstances change, you speak directly with your portfolio manager to ensure your strategy evolves with your circumstances.

Louis Montag begins his career at Montag Brothers Paper Company in Atlanta.
Louis Montag starts Atlanta’s first independent advisory firm, Montag & Caldwell.
Louis’s son, Tony, joins his father’s firm.
Tony leaves Montag & Caldwell and joins Wood, Struthers & Winthrop.
Tony acquires the Atlanta office of Wood, Struthers & Winthrop and incorporates MONTAG.
Tony’s wife, Jackie, joins the team to lead MONTAG business development.
MONTAG launches its popular semi-annual seminar, Facts & Finances for Women.
Tony’s sons, Ned and John, join their family’s growing business, eventually becoming CEO & CIO. The MONTAG Advisory Board is also created.
MONTAG moves into Georgia-Pacific Center on the threshold of its 25th anniversary.
MONTAG celebrates its 30th anniversary, continuing to grow in AUM, clients and staff.
